FAQ'S ABOUT OUR RIPPER AND GHOST TOURS
WHEN DO THE TOURS TAKE PLACE?
The Jack the Ripper Walk takes place 7 nights a week at 7pm. The Alleyways and Shadows London Ghost Walk takes place on Saturdays at 7.30pm and the Hidden Horrors Haunted London Tour takes place at 7pm on Fridays.
HOW MUCH DO THE TOURS COST?
All of our tours cost just £10.00 per person. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, Paypal or cheque.
CAN I PAY CASH ON THE NIGHT?
We do not accept cash payers on the night. Since we limit the numbers on our tours we ask you to book in advance so that we can have an idea of how many guides to allocate to a particular tour.
CAN I PAY OVER THE PHONE?
Yes, we can accept credit/debit card bookings over the telephone during our normal office hours, which are Monday to Friday 10am to 4.30pm. To make a phone booking please just call us during these hours on 020 8530-8443.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL MY TOUR?
Should you not be able to make the night you have booked for we are happy to transfer your booking to another night. We are also happy to issue a full refund providing you give us reasonable notice of not less than 24 hours. Regretfully we cannot issue a refund if you simply fail to turn up for the tour without contacting us as we will then be unable to re-sell your places. For large groups of 8+ we will require 72 hours notice in order to be able to issue a refund.
WHERE DO THE TOURS MEET?
The Jack the Ripper Walk meets outside Exit Four of Aldgate East Underground Station. You can find the meeting point directions here.
The Alleyways and Shadows Old City Ghost Walk meets outside Exit Three of Bank Underground Station. You can find the meeting point directions here.
The Hidden Horrors Ghosts, Ghouls and Graveyards Tour meets outside the Lord Raglan Pub on St Martin Le Grand. You can find the meeting point directions here.
HOW LONG DO THE TOURS LAST?
All of our tours last for around 1.5 to 1.45 hours. Sometimes they might go a little over these times, sometimes they might be a little under.
ARE THE TOURS SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
The Jack the Ripper Walk most certainly isn't. The Ghost Walks most certainly are.
We do not recommend the Jack the Ripper Tour for under 14's as it deals with the murder and mutilation of Victorian Prostitutes in the east End of London. You can read a full explanation about why it is not suggested for under 14's here.
The London Ghost Walk is most certainly child friendly and we welcome children onto the tour and always ensure that they are standing at the front so that their view is not blocked. You can read more about bringing children on the Ghost Walks here.
HOW MUCH WALKING IS INVOLVED?
Each of our tours cover a distance of around two miles. They are taken at a very gentle pace and feature numerous stops along the route. The Jack the Ripper Walks don't have places where you can sit down. The ghost walks do have several places where it is possible to sit and rest your weary legs! However, since the pace of our walks is a gentle one, it would be more accurate to describe them as pleasant strolls as opposed to walks.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
The tours take place irrespective of the weather. This is London after all and it sometimes does rain. So our tours will take place in rain, shine, snow and, in case of the Jack the Ripper Tour, especially in thick, thick fog.
We suggest that you check the weather forecast for the day of your tour before setting out and then dressing accordingly. We have a weather forecast page on our website here.
ARE THE TOURS SUITABLE FOR THE DISABLED?
Absolutely. We want our tours to be accessible to all and have devised our routes to be as disability friendly as possible. The major problem your are likely to encounter on our tours is that, unfortunately, none of the Underground Stations we start from have disabled access. Other than that we operate a rigorous disability policy on our tours. You can read our full disability policy here.
WHAT IF I ARRIVE LATE FOR THE RIPPER TOUR?
No problem. when you book the tour you are given our emergency phone number (07946 854571). This number is manned from 6pm to 8pm and our friendly office staff will be happy to locate your guide and then direct you to where the tour is. So please if you do arrive late be sure to call us.
You can also print off our catch up directions here. However, even if you have the directions please be sure to call us, as very occasionally the guide has to alter the route to take account of road works or other circumstances beyond our control.
ARE THERE PUB STOPS ON THE TOURS?
There are no pub stops on the tour itself. There are pubs at the start and finish of the tours and your guide will be happy to direct you to a suitable watering hole.
CAN YOU MAKE DINING SUGGESTIONS?
Most certainly. As part of our desire to be the best Jack the Ripper Tour experience out there we provide dedicated sections of our website that make restaurant and pub recommendations.
For restaurant and pub suggestions on the Jack the Ripper Tour have a look here.
For dining and drinking suggestions on the Ghost Walks have a look here.
CAN YOU MAKE HOTEL SUGGESTIONS?
Most definitively. In fact as with restaurants and pubs we have a dedicated section of our website listing hotels for those who wish to stay over in London on the night of the tour.
On our London Ghost Walk hotel page we even list some London hotels that are haunted for those who wish to enjoy a decent night's unrest!
You can view the Jack the Ripper Hotel page here.

CAN WE DRESS UP FOR THE TOUR?
It's fine to come along to our Jack the Ripper Tours or London Ghost Walk in costume. However, if you do dress up for the Jack the Ripper tour please be aware that it is illegal to carry even plastic knives on the streets of London, so please don't bring them with you.
CAN WE TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS ON THE TOURS?
We have no problem with people taking photographs on our tours but please be respectful of your fellow walkers and of your guide. There's nothing worse for a guide than a flash camera suddenly going off in their face and blinding them!
Please though, be sure to get your guides good side if you take a photograph! A flattering picture is worth a thousand praises!
CAN WE FILM THE TOURS?
We do not allow TV companies to film the tour. The reason being that our clients have signed up to take a tour and have not signed up to be filmed for broadcast. It is not fair on our clients if they turn up and find a film crew waiting for them, so we have a strict no filming policy as far as television goes.
Private individuals are more than welcome to film Richard's Ghost Walks as he has no objection.
However, as far as the Jack the Ripper Walk is concerned it is very much up to the individual guide as to whether or not they allow themselves to be filmed. Please be sure to ask them at the start of the tour for permission to film, and please don't be offended if they refuse permission.
Filming is allowed on the strict understanding that it is for your own private use only. You agree that you will not post any film of our tours on Youtube or any other online video sites.
DO PEOPLE JUMP OUT ON THE TOURS?
Emphatically not - or at least if they do they're nothing to do with us!
Should someone jump out on your tour please stay close to your guide as he legs it down the road at great speed!
CAN YOU TELL ME WHO JACK THE RIPPER WAS?
Not for certain! As Jack was never officially caught then no-one can name him with 100% certainty. There have been over a hundred potential suspects over the years and each of our guides has their own pet Jack the Ripper theory. We actually do go into a great deal of detail regarding the various suspects and your expert guide will be only too happy to discuss any theories you might have with you as you go round.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS?
Richard regularly gets asked this question on his ghost walks. His answer - well you'll just have to join him on a ghost walk and ask him!
